Mađerkin Breg Viewpoint
Above Štrigova, more precisely in Robadje, you’ll find the Mađerkin Breg viewpoint — a favorite destination for cyclists, hikers, and travelers. The viewpoint is approximately 27 meters high, allowing visitors, once they reach the top platform, to enjoy the view from the highest point in Međimurje at 361 meters above sea level.
From here, you can enjoy a unique view of five countries: Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Austria, and Slovakia. The spectacular panorama includes natural landscapes and rolling hills, while the terraced vineyards surrounding the viewpoint create an unforgettable experience.
Standing at the top of the viewpoint, you’ll feel deeply connected to the nature and beauty around you. In addition to the remarkable scenery, Mađerkin Breg is known for excellent Međimurje wines, and the tourist offerings continue to evolve. In 2024, a *Goričko sviralo* (Goričko organ) was installed in the tower, allowing visitors to listen to *Međimurske popevke* — traditional songs from Međimurje, listed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Next to the viewpoint, there is also a bike rest point where cyclists can stop to rest or service their bicycles, making this area ideal for cycling tours and enjoying nature.
The Mađerkin Breg viewpoint was built as part of the **CSA-CycleSeeing Attractour** project, co-financed by the Interreg V-A Hungary-Croatia 2014–2020 program from the European Regional Development Fund. The project lead was the Municipality of Štrigova, with partners including the Štrigova Tourist Board and the City of Nagykanizsa (Hungary). The project ran from September 1, 2020, to July 31, 2022.
Thanks to this project, in addition to the construction of the viewpoint, several cycling events were organized, workshops were held, a promotional brochure of the cross-border region was created, and a web application was developed to measure ecological footprint. More information is available at:
Goričko Sviralo (Goričko Organ)
The Goričko Sviralo is a unique instrument, most similar to a pipe organ, stretching from the ground floor of the viewpoint to the visitor platform — four levels high. The instrument can be played in two different ways.
It was originally designed to play *Međimurske popevke*, traditional songs from Međimurje included on the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. The collection of songs available on the Goričko Sviralo has since expanded to include other suitable pieces. Visitors can select songs from a menu displayed on screens located at the base and the top of the viewpoint.
The second way of playing the instrument is by connecting a keyboard, allowing live performance. The Goričko Sviralo has a five-octave range.
Wind Organ
In addition to the Goričko Sviralo located in the lower part of the viewpoint, there is also a wind organ at the very top — positioned inside a “wind catcher.” When air flows through the instrument, it naturally creates free-form melodies generated by the wind.
The wind organ automatically stops playing when music begins on the Goričko Sviralo.
